After completing my degree, I would like to obtain a T.E.S.L (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate and teach English around the world. As a second generation Canadian, I am aware of the different teaching standards between the educational systems around the world. I wish to help students in developing countries learn english, despite their financial standing. I strongly believe in EFA (Education For All) and it is my ultimate dream to help UNESCO (United Nation Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) achieve that in the near future.
Hello! My name is Carmen Santiago and I am a fourth year student at Mount Royal University. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Elementary Education with a minor in English.Â
As a bookworm, I am excited to share my love of literature with my students. In a day and age where illuminated screens occupy the majority of an individual's time and attention, I would like to make it my mission to reawaken the joys of reading. I hope to instill this positive attitude in our younger generations.
My ultimate goal for the upcoming Winter 2024 field experience is to lead with confidence and to make meaningful connections with my students. My Fall 2021 experience has been lovely as I have been able to develop my practice as a teacher. Now that I have obtained that strong foundation, I would like strengthen my delivery and organization when it comes to lesson planning and classroom management. I can't wait to see what the Winter 2024 semester has in store for me!
