Recognition fuels growth! Nominate your fellow professionals for the excellent work that they do to contribute to the growth and development of students and our Alberta post-secondary institutions.
Applications are evaluated by the ASSC Provincial Planning Committee (PPC). The recipient will be selected based on the information contained within this application through a majority vote process. Each Alberta post-secondary institution represented on the Provincial Planning Committee receives one vote. In the case of a tie, the Chair of the PPC will have the deciding vote.
This award is annually presented to an individual in recognition of long-term service (ten or more years) to students. The following are the criteria upon which the recipient is selected:
1. Outstanding contribution to the development, maintenance and growth of excellence in the science or profession of Student Services
2. Significant contributions to the field of student services
3. Exemplary record in service as a mentor for students and new professionals 4. Successful implementation of model innovations in the field of Student Services 5. Active involvement in relevant professional organizations
6. Research
7. Leadership
8. Significant contributions to the annual ASSC conference
This award is presented to an individual or group employed by a post-secondary institution in Alberta in recognition of outstanding service to students. The criteria upon which nominees are evaluated are that they will have made significant contributions in one, some or all of the following:
1. Five or more years of full-time experience
2. Innovation in programs
3. Program Development
4. Leadership
5. Teaching and/or supervision
6. Community Service
7. Significant contributions to the annual ASSC conference
This award is presented annually to a “New” Student Services professional. The nominee will have worked fewer than five years full-time in Student Services. The nominee will have provided outstanding service within a post-secondary institution in Alberta. The nominee will have made significant contributions in one, some, or all of the following criteria:
1. Innovative or creative efforts within Student Services
2. Active involvement in Student Services professional organizations
3. Indication of significant leadership potential in the Student Services profession 4. Research
5. Commitment to personal development
6. Participation on college-wide committees as evidence of promotion of student services within institutional context
The ASSC Award for Most Effective Team in Student Services is presented to a student services team consisting of five or more members, collectively demonstrating effective provision of student services through teamwork. Team nominees will have demonstrated significant contributions in one or more of the following areas:
1. Improvements in programs and services offered
2. Initiative and development of innovative services
3. Demonstration of best practices in student services
4. Team building that has contributed to enhancing relationships with other staff units, students, and the institutional community.
