For my Sustained Investigation, I wanted to convey a connection to human personalities and emotion by using color because certain colors can be associated with emotions such as red to anger. Through my process, I did portraiture because human expression and choice of emotions has always fascinated me when seeing them expressed in different situations. However, it was frustrating at first because doing human portraits is tedious if they do not resemble the original picture.I experimented with different types of media over the summer, such as colored pencils and paint, but came to the final choice of using oil pastel because of its unique style and potential. A project that represents my SI is the project with my self portraits doing different facial expressions with colors that represent each face. As it demonstrates the connection of personality and color it only leaves people questioning why that color is associated with that type of expression. I have always been interested in art since I was in elementary school and being part of the art program in highschool has not only made going to school everyday enjoyable but has created fond memories that I will always look back on.
