It is significant to have multiple perspectives in daily life because it strongly helps people in problem-solving. Having multiple perspectives means individuals can think in different ways when facing distinct situations, including having challenges, solving math problems, etc. Personally speaking, I need multiple perspectives when I am doubting myself. I often face the situation that I need to make choice between two things, and it is so difficult to trade off. However, having multiple perspectives helps simulate different situations, costs, and gains, which assists me in comparing trade-offs and keeping my mindset stable.
"Cognitive flexibility is a critical skill that enables individuals to accurately and efficiently respond in the face of changing environments." I am majoring in Psychology and my intended minor is Computer Science. In today's society, with the rapid development of technology, Computer Science is one of the most effective tools to convey knowledge of Psychology so I chose some elective courses in computer science. I can explore how artificial intelligence can be used to analyze psychological data or develop virtual therapy platforms. In addition, taking courses in fields such as sociology, anthropology, or neuroscience can offer fresh perspectives and enrich your understanding of psychological phenomena.
During a group project in Research Method Class, my group members and I struggled to agree on a research proposal in psychology. Instead of seeking alternative solutions or perspectives, we continued to argue from our own viewpoints. Therefore, pausing to brainstorm or seek input from others could have led to a more cohesive and successful outcome, demonstrating the importance of cognitive flexibility in collaborative settings.
There was a time when I had a fixed study schedule for an upcoming exam, but it wasn't giving the results I needed. After this, I recognized that I should have been more open to making a new plan. Reflecting on this, I would advise my former self that flexibility is crucial in such situations. It's important to be willing to reassess and adjust strategies when necessary for better outcomes. So, I would encourage myself to embrace adaptability and be open to making changes when the initial plan isn't working effectively.
