Engage, Inspire,
Support, Stretch
We pride ourselves on being authentic, collegiate, accountable, proactive and autonomous.
AUTHENTIC
We can explain how everything we do links to our motto “Engage, Inspire, Supprt, Stretch”
We listen to, respect and value the diversity of ideas and opinions
We provide honest, constructive and respectful feedback to one another in a timely manner.
COLLEGIATE
We contribute to the faculty by designing units of work, task sheets, presentations and vocabulary lists and making these available in the Shared Drive by the time the unit is due to commence
We proactively contribute ideas and solutions - there is no such thing as a bad idea
We contribute to a supportive ‘no blame’ environment where mistakes are seen as an opportunity to learn and develop capability
We contribute to a positive work environment through sharing success stories, key learnings and supporting each other
Consensus is achieved before decisions affecting all are made.
ACCOUNTABLE
We Do What We Say We Will Do
We complete tasks that have been assigned to us, or we have volunteered for, by the timeline agreed upon.
We demonstrate personal responsibility for the success of the team and make the effort to support the team when needed.
We respect everyone else’s time during scheduled meetings by arriving prepared, and on time. We turn our phones to silent and close laptops unless required.
We take ownership over the problems we flag by offering ideas and solutions.
We don’t ignore issues or assume the issue is already being dealt with. Instead, we flag issues as they arise.
We provide inclusive teaching and assessment through the use of the English Subject Planner.
We have DayMap notes available before the start of every lesson. Lesson notes include; Learning Intentions and Success Criteria, Google Slide, Task Sheet, and any other resources. See ‘DayMap’ tab on Website
We provide timely feedback to students, by providing one written comment per term, and making assessment grades available no later than 2 weeks after the due date.
We follow the completion policy, as set by MTBHS
We commit to our faculty goal of including independent reading, explicit reading, and vocabulary activities in lessons, once a week
PROACTIVE
We step in when someone needs help
We seek clarification when needed through checking meeting minutes, shared drive, asking a colleague, or asking the learning area leader.
We speak up during team meetings
We actively seek out members of our faculty, every interaction is linked to positive outcomes
We are visible throughout the school and ‘get out of the office’
AUTONOMOUS
We have the freedom to work in a way that suits the teacher, aligning with the set Learning Intentions and Success Criteria
We appreciate that people work differently, so long as the work gets done on time and to the expected standard, it’s up to the individual teacher to decide how to carry it out.
We can plan units/ lessons/ activities based on skills and interests or can choose from pre-planned units on website/ shared drive.
