Connect English students are mostly determined by student learning needs and IESP funding. In some situations, when a student does not have an official diagnosis, and the teacher has provided significant modification and differentiation, but the student is still requiring extra support, then we consider a move into Connect. *Year 10 Connect will engage in the Stage 1 VOC Program in an attempt to achieve all literacy credits this year.
Extension students are selected by teachers, after reviewing their grades from Year 9. Typically, students who were successful in Year 9 Extension will move to Year 10 Extension. This is a continued pathway toward Literary Studies in Year 12.
All teachers are expected to differentiate within their classes. Within each unit folder, you will find units used in Connect Classes and Extension Classes. This way, you can provide separate activities and task sheets to your students, dependent on their capability.
Teachers:
NOTE: For Year 10 Connect English, we attempt to get students to complete 1 semester of Stage 1 English (See Stage 1 VOC tab) across the whole year. This is completely dependent on the ability of the group and does not always work. We will discuss this as a team at the beginning of each year.
