The Mindanao State University- College of Business Administration and Accountancy has successfully celebrated its annual foundation day from March 19- March 22, 2021. But this time, it was commemorated virtually.
This year’s founding Anniversary is composed of three major events; Seminar on Academic Research, Inter-department Virtual Competition and the Formal Celebration of the Foundation day.
Mr. Acram Latiph, a professor from the Economics Department, kicked off the first part of the virtual foundation day through his seminar about Academic Research on the 21st day of March, 2021. CBAA Students were required to attend his lecture via Zoom.
Mr. Sahron Roy Tamano, an Outstanding alumnus, graced the virtual foundation day as he served as this year’s guest speaker. Mr. Tamano inspired the students by sharing his successful stories during his college days as an active student leader up to his stories when he worked as a professional and an award-winning executive.
The virtual competition is composed of Literary Competitions, Musical Competitions, Dance Competitions and Multi-media Competitions. The Business Administration and Accountancy Student Council (BAASC) organized this event. Students from different departments have joined and participated in every category. At the end of the competition, the Department of Marketing was hailed as the Over-all Champion. The Management Department and the Economics Department won the 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
“I was happy because the Pandemic never stopped us from celebrating the birthday of our beloved college.” said by the BAASC Adviser during an interview with him.
MSU wins Enactus-Unilever Topic Competition 2020
The Mindanao State University Main Campus through MSU-CBAA bags the championship award in the virtually held 2020 Enactus-Unilever Topic Competition happened on March 27, 2021.
The MSU team is composed of Mohammad Shoraym Casanguan from the Management Department, Raniya Sarip and Nairah Tambie from Accountancy Department, and their coach, Mr. Art Marvin Aranas, from the Marketing Department.
This competition looks to present livelihood programs that would also address issues related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic through entrepreneurship and innovation.
MSU’s Team Project “N’tarun tano” is a social enterprise supporting youth subsector groups in Lanao Del Sur province by providing educational and other assistance through peace-building activities and social interventions. Thus, it also aims to preserve the Meranaw Culture by promoting shirts with authentic Meranaw Designs, like Langkit and Okir, and further integrating Meranaw Pananaroon or Proverbs.
Other Finalists that are included in the Top 5 are University of South-eastern Philippines, University of Luzon, Holy Trinity College and Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas.
