The College of Business Administration was formally created on March 22, 1963 through BOR Resolution No. 75. It offered a four-year leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration primarily to provide the students with necessary education and training for business employment and entrepreneurship in the MINSUPALA REGION.
From the start of its operations, the College implemented only two academic programs: BSBA major in Economics and BSBA major in Marketing. In 1976 and 1985, The BSBA major in Accounting and BSBA major in Management were introduced and implemented respectively. At present, the College has four (4) curricular programs – BS in Accountancy, BSBA major in Business Economics, BSBA Entrepreneurial Marketing and BSBA Management.
Accounting as a course started as a mere major in a Bachelor’s degree for Commerce of Business Administration. DECS order No. 5 was issued in early 1990 elevating Accounting from a mere major to a distinct course - Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. The College had first implemented its BS in Accountancy program during the school year 1993-1994 and had undergone revisions during the year 1999.
In answer to the need for a more relevant education and in order to gear the program towards a higher standard for the entry course to the profession ,a System-wide CBA curriculum Consultative Assembly was held on January 24, 2007 at MSU-IIT, Iligan City. It was discussed, deliberated and unanimously approved by the three (3) System Campuses – MSU Marawi, MSU-IIT and MSU-General Santos.
The justification for the change in the College name is primarily based on the consideration that since professional identity is an important motivating factor in assuring the success of the accountancy education program, the profession itself may be included in the name or title of the college.
Moreover, CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No., 3 Series of 2007 emphasized that since Accountancy is now a distinct course and is no longer under the BSBA program, it can be included in the name of the college.
On July, 25, 2007, the system-wide change in the college name from College of Business Administration to College of Business Administration and Accountancy was finally approved through BOR Resolution #102 Series of 2007.

BRIEF HISTORY
The Management of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy offers a four-year course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science major in Management. The creation of the department is an initiative of the CBAA Dean Prof. Marlene Hofer-Tamano, known as the Mother of the Management Department. After her return to Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt in a study for the degree of Masters in Management in Cairo University, she realized that Management has a vital course is lacking in the College, hence the initiative. Although Management subjects are already part of the curriculum of other courses in the College such Economics, Marketing, and Accounting (now Accountancy), the former believes that Management should be established as a distinct department.
Among the four departments in the College, the Management Department was the one which was founded last.
