My name is Christy Cheezum. I'm a French and Spanish teacher at a rural public high school in Maryland. You can learn more about me or how to get in touch. On this site, you will find highlights of my work completed during the MAFLT program, as well as my beliefs about language teaching.
Welcome to my MAFLT Portfolio. In this site, I have shared highlights of my work in this program, many of which focus on helping teachers who are just starting out or looking to make a change. In my teaching philosophy, I talk about the small changes in-service teachers can make. In my program evaluation report, I share ways a program as a whole can be improved. And in my Experiential Module, the focus is entirely on empowering teachers to move toward proficiency-based units using backwards design.
Through much reflection and feedback, I've developed a Philosophy of Teaching statement that captures my goals for supporting students and teachers.
Research is among the most valuable skills I learned in the MAFLT program, including this program evaluation report.
My Experiential Module focuses on guiding teachers through the process of creating proficiency-based units using backwards design.
Technology is one of the skills that I feel most confident in. I built an online course in the semester prior to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.
