Jake Berrey

My name is Jake Berrey and I live and teach in Santa Ana, California. During my ten years at the Orange County School of the Arts, I have taught levels 1, 2, 3 and 5 to middle and high school students using TPRS methods and CI strategies. I acquired Spanish through local work and school, starting in seventh grade and continuing at California State University Long Beach in the Spanish Literature and Linguistics program.

I am living proof that one need not travel abroad or move out of the U.S. to learn Spanish in their local community. I was drawn to the MAFLT program because of its wide range of classes and well-known status in the FLT community. Over the past few years, the way I understand my profession has been entirely transformed and I am excited to share many of the highlights and takeaways with you.
