Master's Project for the MA in Foreign Language Teaching
For my Experiential Module project, I revamped a unit from a previous upper level Spanish class by infusing it with new knowledge that I acquired in the MAFLT program. I used a curriculum grid that was helpful in displaying the scope and sequence of the project and changed the way I organize my curriculum. Task Based and Project Based learning strategies were incorporated to create engaging activities and projects encouraging interaction and using each mode of communication. A primary objective was to develop Intercultural Competence in my students by focusing on the local Latino community, its history, and cultural contributions.
This reflective essay is an inside look at the reasons why I made the choices that I made with my Experiential Module and some of the challenges that I encountered during the process, including how to make cultural lessons and explorations relevant to students.
