This was my first course in the program and I took it as a seven week intensive. In this course I learned more about the different frameworks that make up technology learning and 21st Century Learning. I also learned that I do a lot more of this type of teaching than I originally thought. I gained new techniques for creating work in class and how to teach my students the same techniques. I gained a new understanding for learning and understanding and the difference between the two.

I also learned how to work a new type of innovative technology (3D printer) and taught my students how to work through the process of that learning. I also learned how to incorporate that technology into my every day teaching.

In this course I learned how to properly teach an online course. During this semester I was able to go through the steps of making a course online, including deciding on the proper platform and how to effectively teach the content. I found that I had more background knowledge in online teaching practices than I thought which put me in a good place to begin creating a course shell. I didn’t realize however, how much was included in the set up of the communication piece of online education and how to communicate that to students effectively.
Instructors: Bret Staudt Willet & William Bork
In this course I learned more about the design process and how it connects very closely with technology and education. I also learned how closely design thinking can be to education. I didn’t realize how often I work through the design process in my day to day teaching. I found interesting parallels between technology and education. I also gained a better understanding of the steps in the design process.
Instructors: Ron Houtman, Chris Sloan, Kyle Shack & Brittany Dillman
In this course I learned about the different views of learning. I learned about how the ideas of Vygotsky, Skinner, and others all play together to form someone's idea of learning. This course helped me dial in my thoughts about learning and how to more effectively teach students to help them learn to their highest potential. This included learning more about assessment, and habits and routines and how to help students adapt those to help themselves.
Instructors: Alison Keller & Chris Sloan
In this course I learned about the assessment of learning and how it can be used electronically. I learned what things I think are important for assessment as well as how to make assessments that are consistent with my ideas. I also made an assessment checklist that can help me make sure the assessment I make in my profession is consistent and aligned with what is true about effective assessment. I also took a look at game-based assessments and began working on a prototype. I learned to keep an eye on assessments for bias and equity for all students as well as how to thoughtfully design assessments for all students.
Instructors: Ron Houtman & Nicole Zumpano
In this course I learned about applying technology to practice. I learned new ways to incorporate technology into my education practice in a way that would be meaningful to students and teachers alike. Most of the course was spent on questioning and the process of questioning in a wicked problem. I learned the process that goes into working through a big problem and how the right type of questioning can lead to creative problem solving.
Instructors: Michael Lachney & Matthew Schell
In this course I learned about the different types of research that is done in education. We did several units that outlined the different approaches to research. I did a project for each type including survey design, interview, and educational technology research. We finished the course by learning about annotated bibliographies and completing one on a research topic we found interesting.
Instructor: Nicole Zumpano
In this course I learned about how to be an effective leader in educational technology. This included what makes an effective leader and how to help others in my profession lead others. This course helped me to understand how to create a vision for educational leadership going forward.
Instructors: Matthew Koehler & Aric Gaunt
In this course I learned how to make an online portfolio. I spent time relfecting on the goals I made at the beginning of the program as well as thinking to the future and those goals. I also took all of the work I had done over my courses and combined them in a way that makes sense and is easy for others to interpret. I was able to make a portfolio that can be used well into my future, I also presented my work at an online exhibition.
