My teaching philosophy is the result of many years of experience both in the US and in my native country. Now that I am in this country, I have a plethora of tools at my disposal to engage students and make my class one to remember.
I have gained a great deal of interest towards technology in the classroom as it provides a fantastic opportunity to truly engage students and foster learning through fun, meaningful activities which focus on more modern approaches where students develop proficiency in the second language as they work in activities they can connect to their lives and their cultural reality.
Keeping students engaged is paramount in my lessons. I accomplish this not only through meaningful, didactic activities that maintain my students' interest in the topic, but also by always arriving to class with a smile and enthusiasm for my students to feel motivated by following my example.
Grammar and vocabulary are topics that I approach through games and activities that foster proficiency and multiculturalism for students to be able to connect it to their reality in a way that is significative for them.
I approach multiculturalism from my own reality and experience. My husband and I being from Latin countries greatly help me in this task as I often bring examples and experiences from my own reality into class. This way students can see multiculturalism firsthand and compare and contrast their own cultures to others, this way, expanding their knowledge and their minds.
