Hello! My name is Betty Brown and I teach Japanese at a public residential high school in central Arkansas, where I have been since 2017. I am originally from Indiana and spent much of my childhood in Michigan. Though I love Arkansas, I am a Midwesterner at heart and return home as much as I can.
In 2016, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Japanese Education from Ball State University (chirp chirp!), where I also minored in German and Teaching English as a Second Language. At BSU, I had the opportunity to study at Sapporo University in Japan during the summer of 2015. After graduation, I spent ten months as an English Teaching Assistant in Germany through the Fulbright Program, after which I returned to the U.S. to teach Japanese.
In Fall of 2019, I enrolled in the MAFLT program in order to further cultivate my knowledge of foreign language pedagogy and strengthen my teaching skills. I have greatly enjoyed my time in the program and have learned so much!
