The reed valves in a pulse jet are the moving part in the engine. The Pressure from the air fuel mixture coming from the injectors deflect the petals to allow the air fuel mixture to enter into the combustion chamber. Once the mixture deflagrates through the combustion chamber, the petals close and stops the incoming air fuel mixture. The negative pressure wave then opens the petals up to continue the cycle.
Reed valves are usually made out of spring steel
