Our school wide behavior program and class management is based on our STAR core values: Stay Safe, Take Responsibility, Be Accepting, Be Respectful. In the beginning of the year we discuss and model appropriate choices. We will also discuss and model certain expectations/routines for the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, assemblies, and the playground.
Our school also focuses on a character word each month. In the beginning of the year we discuss and model appropriate choices. We will also discuss and model certain expectations/routines for the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, assemblies, playground, and with technology.
This program is reinforced with Scott Bucks. They are given to the students who display STAR behavior. Children have the opportunity to save their Scott Bucks in their classroom wallets to shop at the Scott Store or purchase special coupons. We also have Fun Fridays and Quarterly Celebrations to encourage and praise STAR behavior!
In our classroom, we strive to follow the rules above. I do not anticipate any behavioral problems. For minor infractions your child can receive a Minor behavior slip. Please discuss the slip with your child. If the inappropriate behavior still continues, I will reach out to work with you to solve it. For more serious infractions, your child can receive a Major behavior slip and be sent to the office. The principal would call you to discuss the situation.
My goal is to provide a happy and healthy school environment for all children to learn. By following certain rules and routines, I know we will have a successful year! I believe that success in school is directly related to the partnership between the school, teacher, parent(s), and child.
