Course Overview:

The Advanced Study theater course for 8th Grade will provide a deeper dive into the content area for aspiring actors, directors, and playwrights. With the objective of preparing students with advanced skills for high school and beyond, this course will focus on audition technique and monologue, interview preparation, professionally relevant fieldwork, and a rehearsal of a full length play in January. The second half of the year will focus on devising original work as playwrights, directors, and actors- featuring in class readings, revision practices, critical feedback, and workshops. The class will culminate in a devised piece, produced and performed by the students.The class meets for a full year, three days per week.
