Course Overview:

The Intermediate theater course for 7th Grade will explore visual literacy and theatrical design as students examine a a central theatrical text through a variety of lenses, mirroring professional roles in the theater such as directing, scenic, costume, and lighting design. Students will read a play as a full class, self select into production teams, and analyze a scene to fully design a site specific, full immersive performance piece as their final product for the expedition. The class meets for approximately half a year, meeting twice a week for a combination of 40 and 80 minute blocks. Students will be assessed in a variety of ways including participation, written journal entries, feedback protocols, and deliverables for their final scene.
