Visual art has been a passion since childhood, especially drawing and painting. Rick grew up in the small town of Burley, Idaho where there was little art education in the schools. As a teacher, he would like to give students the opportunities to make art that he was dreaming of as an adolescent. Rick studied studio art at the University of Utah where he was introduced to sculpture and printmaking. He completed a master’s degree in Painting from Boston University and a graduate program in Art Education at Brooklyn College. He has lived in Brooklyn since 2006.
When not teaching, making artwork, or frequenting art galleries, Rick enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities like biking, running, and hiking. Rick is also the proud father of a 8 year old boy who ensures that there is never a dull moment.
