This year at M.S. 839, 6th grade students will learn the basic principles of keyboard playing for the purpose of establishing a better foundation for music literacy. This course includes the development of keyboard techniques through the application of basic music theory and applied practice of appropriate piano literature.
This year at M.S. 839, 8th grade students will build on the basics and grow their keyboard playing skills. This course includes the development of keyboard techniques through the application of basic music theory and applied practice of appropriate piano literature.
This course will utilize technology to understand, compose, and record music. 8th grade music intensive students will be exposed to engineering and recording and will gain exposure to music software and notation programs. Students will develop musicianships by completing projects utilizing critical response, reading and notation, improvisation and composition, as well as some singing and instrumental performance.
