To better accommodate 10 graders to the future DP curriculum, Xisong incorporates pre-DP courses into the new 108 national curriculum. Students take courses of all 6 subject groups and gradually get used to the inquiry-, concept-based teaching practices. Also, a shift from the traditional 100 mark scheme to 7 is introduced to students.

We know that students can have varied interests and aims on the way to a successful academic life. If they cannot find a specific subject from our in-school course selection, they can, under the suggestion of the counselor, opt for the IB authorized online learning system, Pamoja. The extra fees for the Pamoja course will be charged accordingly.

• pre-DP

The moment DP students enroll in Xisong, the custom-made counselling plan starts.  The counselling team, including psychological counselor, university guidance counselor, DP coordinator, and homeroom teacher, interview each and every DP student constantly to ensure he/she is emotionally and psychologically ready for the curriculum, and perfectly understands the philosophy of the IB education. Besides, we want to know their future plan for post-secondary education, where to go and what possible field of study they have in mind. Parents expectations absolutely play an essential role, and therefore we will meet with parents and communicate what they expect of their children.

The DP course selection is also important. We begin our course selection counselling at the second half of the year. We also encourage students to take language tests if necessary and take initiatives in learning.    

• DP Year 1

Following the Individual counselling plans in pre-DP year, we continue to corroborate our system in helping shape students' vision for the future. 

• DP Year 2 

In fall semester, students will be carefully guided to apply for universities. Our counselor will assist students in preparing documents needed for application.
