A little known fact about Masconomet High School is it is "one of the few public schools in the nation with its own in-house pipe organ" (Seymour). The organ was built in the 1880's and is housed in the recital hall known as the Clibourn Ryder Organ Studio (Bond). The dedication is made to Monika and Douglas Clibourn who helped to arrange the acquisition of the organ for Masconomet. The Clibourns also made financial contributions to help with the transportation and installation costs. The organ was built by George H. Ryder, a Boston based Organ builder (George). The pipe organ was donated by Topsfield's Our Savior Lutheran Church; however, Walter O'Keefe raised the money for the transportation and installation of the organ (Bond). The organ provides unique opportunities to student musicians here at Masconomet that most other students in the nation do not have. The organ is easy to miss, but it's history provides a unique aspect to Masconomet's story.
