Archibald L. Jones
“Archibald L. Jones, 1899-1948, was one of Middleton’s most unselfish and best-loved citizens. During a seventeen-year period, he held a series of elective offices totaling forty-three years of capable service to his community and his district. From 1935-1938, he served as Representative to the General Court for the towns of Boxford, Middleton, Topsfield, and Danvers. In establishing the Archibald L. Jones Gymnasium, it is appropriate to recall that it was Mr. Jones, who during the days of the Depression was in great measure responsible for having a town park developed principally for the benefit of Middleton’s young people” (Clark).
