From the founding of Masconomet in 1960 to the Fall of Saigon in 1975, there were 281 graduates of Masconomet High School that served in Vietnam. Of these, three were killed in action, their names being John Joseph Cabral, John David Lawson, and James Leonard Melvin. John David Lawson, and James Leonard Melvin both have plaques ,but John Joseph Cabral does not have a plaque as of May 29th, 2019(Masconomet Veterans').
Our goal as researchers and as students of Masconomet is to make sure that John Joesph Cabral gets the plaque that he so rightfully earned through his heroic service to our Country and the Tri-Town. Every soldier who fought in the Vietnam War, and any war for that matter, deserves a plaque at Masconomet for their service.
