The Wellness Peer Program is a student-led initiative that promotes mental health awareness, provides emotional support, and fosters a culture of care at Moorpark High School. Wellness Peers are trained student leaders who serve as advocates for well-being, helping their classmates feel seen, heard, and supported.
These students collaborate with the Wellness Center to:
Offer peer-to-peer encouragement and active listening
Help reduce the stigma around mental health
Lead wellness campaigns and activities on campus
Support events like Mental Health Awareness Week, Wellness Fair, and more
Serve as positive role models promoting kindness, inclusivity, and balance
Wellness Peers play a vital role in shaping a safer, more connected school community. Their presence helps:
Create a welcoming environment where students know it's okay to ask for help
Build bridges between students and wellness staff
Empower others to prioritize their mental health
Normalize conversations about stress, anxiety, and emotional wellness

I wanted to become a Wellness Peer so I could help myself and others with their mental health as well as learn more about mental health awareness. I’m excited about having more students at MHS more involved in the Wellness Center and having more students come by and participate in the workshops that we offer this upcoming school year.
