OUR STORY
Since opening the Guinn Center in June 2024, we've donated over $190,000 of pro bono space to 17 local organizations delivering 2,100+ hours of community support and programming.
Our founder, Michael R. Guinn, formerly made his mark on Tampa through the success of his nonprofit, MRG Lab's, dedicated involvement to help the front lines of the pandemic. A team of volunteers 3D printed over 100K face shields and donated them to hospitals across the state. MRG Labs later received honors from both the City of Tampa, and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.
Operating in borrowed space that wasn’t always guaranteed to be available, and understanding other organizations were facing similar challenges, MRG Labs decided to expand into their new form - a larger, more accessible community center known as the Guinn Center.
The Guinn Center is a community center. Our mission is focused on helping nonprofits thrive, small businesses grow, and community members learn. We provide temporary, mixed-use space in a family-friendly environment, along with community programming focused on education, STEM+, the arts, workforce development, personal wellness, and other blossoming categories spearheaded by community members. Furthermore, when neighbors experience a crisis, the center directly facilitates their needs.
Rather than leasing the property out to a big corporation, or large retailers, the goal is aimed at creating a place where local residents and beyond can unite for the greater good. Our vision is fiercely focused on improving the lives of others by fostering continued opportunities to learn and grow.
The Guinn Center is funded by grants, private events, and ongoing donations. All proceeds go directly to the community center, and no salaries are taken by the staff, as we run fully on volunteer support.
