This week, August 17th-21st, is the first full week of instruction for students! Students will login at 8:00 and be expected to complete work both with the teacher, as well as on their own, until 11:50 a.m. Teachers are available after 12:30 p.m. to assist students and may ask to meet with some students for extra support. Sometimes the teacher may have students work on their own, and then come back into the class meeting.
As a reminder, here is the general schedule, though each grade level may have some variations:
You can watch archived videos of the district's parent workshops here!
Topics include ways to support your child's emotional well-being, how to login and use ParentSquare, and how to login and use Clever/Google Classroom.
If you did not get your materials, there will be one final pick-up opportunity. After that, you'll have to make special arrangements with the school to get the materials.
To get any materials you were unable to pick up, you can come on Monday, August 17th between 12:00-3:00 p.m. in the front of the school. You can stay in your car. Even if you already got your box of materials and Chromebook, you need to pick up the Ready Core materials (they look similar to the book above) if you did not come on August 12th-14th.
i-Ready: Students will all take the online i-Ready diagnostic assessments August 24th-28th and August 31st-September 4th. Students will learn about how to be successful on the assessments in class August 17th-21st. More information about how to help your child be successful on the assessments will be sent next week. The assessments will be given online during class and the teachers will monitor the students. TK will not take the assessments, and kindergarteners will take the assessments in September.
SIPPS/DIBELS: Some students will be meeting for 15 minute time slots with instructional assistants August 17th-21st to take some tests to see what types of reading interventions will help them be successful. Staff are calling families of these students. Please make sure your child is in a quiet place to take the test, and please do not assist your child - we want to ensure the data we get is accurate. The link for the testing will be in their Google classroom at the top of the Classwork page by Monday morning.
