Conferences

Parents/guardians will be receiving a message at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2nd in ParentSquare. It will ask for you to sign up for a conference for your child. If you have more than one student at Ord Terrace, you will receive multiple messages. Please choose a day/time that works for you! The conference dates are November 16th-20th. They will be 30 minutes in length.

If you have questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Below is what it will look like either on your computer or phone.

If you require translation, please contact the teacher(s) directly or leave a comment on their ParentSquare post.

Election

On Monday, November 2nd, I will be presenting the monthly pledge ceremony 8:15-8:45 a.m. I will be addressing the upcoming election in a kid-friendly way, and be politically neutral about the process. I just want to explain to the students how important it is for people to vote when they are 18, and that it's a wonderful process for sharing their voices! Discussing the process of voting is a social studies/history standard (civics) and is a part of the educational process in all schools.

During the pledge, I will also say that this process can be stressful, and no matter the outcomes of the election, students will be given opportunities to share any strong feelings they have during office hours with teachers (they need to reach out to their teacher), our therapist (Ms. Claudia), or me (Mr. Sampson). After the election in 2016, there were several students who needed to share their feelings, and we feel it's important that students have space to do that. We understand this year's election process has been especially stressful and there have been a lot of social media posts and televised news segments that students may have seen, and people have very strong feelings about it. We are there for all our students, to support them, and help them feel safe and empowered. Please reach out to me or Ms. Claudia (fill out this form) if you would like support with this process.
