This session will focus on asthma, basic injuries such as nosebleeds, cuts, falls and environmental emergencies (stings and bites), asthma and broken bones. The course will provide you with scenarios and teach basic skills.
Cultural Competency & Millard Families (Course #35218) (Session 1)
The newest families in Millard are from Tajikistan, Afghanistan and the Ukraine. This course will provide information on their cultures, customs and educational experiences that may be impacting their transition to school in the United States. Written and oral communication tools will be shared in order to improve communication with multilingual families.
Mindful Self-Care Tools to Reduce Stress (Course #34731) (Session 1 or 2)
A growing body of research shows educators have the power to improve the way they address stress, reduce burnout, and improve student outcomes via mindful self-care practices. Participants will learn mindful tools they can incorporate in their daily routines to decrease stress and improve overall well-being. This interactive and engaging workshop includes activities such as mindful breathing and eating, mindful movement, savoring the positive, and gratitude.

Book Study: Behavior Support Strategies for Paraprofessionals (Course #35208) **(Session is 8am-10:15am)**
Paraprofessionals are an essential component of the school setting and often assist with the management of student behavior. Participants will demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of student behavior, the components of student behavior, behavioral techniques for addressing student behavior, and the relationship between behavior and the student's disability. PREREQUISITE: Must register no later than September 22 to take part in this class. The book will be sent to your building upon registration. The required reading for this course should take participants approximately one hour. Participants will be paid one additional hour to compensate them for the required reading. To be compensated, participants must attend the October 12 session.
