MPS Grading Scale - NEW!

After a comprehensive study including gathering input from students, recent graduates, parents, teachers and post graduate institutions, the MPS Grading Scale Committee is making the following recommendation:

Beginning in the fall semester of the 2025-2026 school year, Millard Public Schools will change from a 7-point grading scale (e.g., 93%-100%) to a 10-point grading scale (e.g., 90%-100%) and begin using A-F markings instead of 1-5.

Grace Abbott Elementary will use the following grading scale this year:

District Updates Mobile Device Policy in Response to State Law

Dear Elementary Parents and Guardians,

We are writing to inform you of an update to our district's mobile device policy, in alignment with recent changes in Nebraska state law (LB140), which requires all school boards to have a policy restricting student cell phone use. While our district has had a policy in place, this update serves to further clarify expectations for our students.

Starting this fall, students in elementary schools may not use mobile devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, during the school day—from the time they arrive until the end of the day. If devices are sent to school, they will be kept off and stored in backpacks or other designated areas during school hours.

This update was made following thoughtful input from parents, staff, and students and is designed to support student focus and comply with state law. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child.

CAR LINE SAFETY

At school, we put many things in place to protect all children. Please respect our students and their safety by following the speed limit, adhering to our parking lot procedures, staying off your phone, and demonstrating patience at all times.

All students need to enter and exit alongside a curb.

Do not exit your vehicle to help your child out of the vehicle, or in the vehicle, unless you're parked in a designated area.

If there is room in front of your vehicle, please pull forward.

Many families also have a plan for a meeting spot after school. We encourage you to practice this before the first day of school! We know you always plan to be there, but sometimes things come up. It's also important to discuss with your child what happens if you're not there - and what they should do!
