Dear Abbott Families,
I hope this letter finds that you enjoyed a summer full of fun, sunshine, and special moments with family and friends! As we get ready to kick off the 2025–2026 school year, I want to warmly welcome back all of our amazing students and families. This year’s theme, “Let’s Glow Gators,” reminds us to shine bright in everything we do! We are excited to launch another year of learning, growing, and glowing together at Grace Abbott Elementary!
A Back-To-School Checklist was sent out last Friday. If you haven’t completed it yet or didn’t receive the email, please use the link provided to get started or find it at the top of the Gator Tales. It’s a helpful step-by-step guide to ensure a smooth start to the year. As always, if you have any questions or need help, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making Grace Abbott such a special place to learn and grow. We can’t wait to welcome our Gators back and kick off a glowing new year together!

Dear Elementary Parents and Guardians,
We are writing to inform you of an update to our district's mobile device policy, in alignment with recent changes in Nebraska state law (LB140), which requires all school boards to have a policy restricting student cell phone use. While our district has had a policy in place, this update serves to further clarify expectations for our students.
Starting this fall, students in elementary schools may not use mobile devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, during the school day—from the time they arrive until the end of the day. If devices are sent to school, they will be kept off and stored in backpacks or other designated areas during school hours.
This update was made following thoughtful input from parents, staff, and students and is designed to support student focus and comply with state law. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the school office directly. Thank you for your continued support!

CAR LINE SAFETY
At school, we put many things in place to protect all children. Please respect our students and their safety by following the speed limit, adhering to our parking lot procedures, staying off your phone, and demonstrating patience at all times.
All students need to enter and exit alongside a curb.
Do not exit your vehicle to help your child out of the vehicle, or in the vehicle, unless you're parked in a designated area.
If there is room in front of your vehicle, please pull forward.
Many families also have a plan for a meeting spot after school. We encourage you to practice this before the first day of school! We know you always plan to be there, but sometimes things come up. It's also important to discuss with your child what happens if you're not there - and what they should do!
Please fill out your child's t-shirt size on this Google Form. If you have more than one child at Abbott, please fill out a form for each child.
