Every year at Red Mountain we have an election! Every first quarter of the school year, elections are held to determine the new student council officers for the rest of the year. Usually the candidates give their campaign speech in school, and the students would vote on paper. For this year's elections, each candidate gave their speech at home, then submitted them to the student council advisor. Four separate google forms were created for each grade, containing the speeches and ballot for the students to vote!

One tradition most schools have, is a Homecoming week. Spirit clothes, royalty, parades, tailgates, football games, and the one event every single student sees is the ASSEMBLY! But the problem is that this encourages gathering a large student body in the gym. Without being able to gather, how could we have the attention of the whole campus at the same time? We knew that You Tube and many social media sites allowed for live streaming. What if...? Could we...? Yep we DID! Our dancers put on masks, and we took a live camera into their classroom, then we cut to the football captains and had a full royalty progression right there on live streaming into the classrooms around our campus.
Our RMTV camera crew helped us with mics, a control room and we even opened the assembly with our principal in a creative mask! It was the best ending to a modified week. Even with the global pandemic, student council still found a way to give the students the Homecoming assembly they deserved. We were able to perform a fun, live, virtual, and most importantly, safe assembly that contained aspects no different than a normal assembly. We interviewed our principal, had the Red Mountain Dance Force perform, promoted football's Homecoming game, and interviewed our entire Homecoming court!
Although it was live, it was also recorded on You Tube. Here is the link to our virtual assembly (start 14:30):
