Licensed School Counselors and AchieveMpls Career and College Center Coordinators in MPS are responsible for implementing the district-wide, and graduation-required, college and career readiness curriculum called My Life Plan (MLP). There are 5-7 MLP lessons per grade level which unfold the college and career readiness curriculum in a developmentally appropriate, and grade level appropriate, manner over the course of each student's high school career. Activities include needs assessment surveys, career and personality inventories, discussions, and other hands on activities. Lessons are connected to one another in a meaningful progression and offer time for reflection and interaction so that students will gain real awareness of all the possible postsecondary options available as well as identify strategies and pathways for achieving their goals.
After each in-school MLP lesson that Counselors facilitate with students, all related materials (e.g. handouts or presentations) will be posted on that grade level's webpage (links below).
