The goal of physics is to understand how things work and to develop a deeper appreciation for our universe, ranging from the subatomic to the cosmological level. Studying physics strengthens quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills that are valuable in areas beyond physics. This course is designed to meet the requirements for AP Physics 2 and is also the second year of the IB HL Physics program. Topics to be studied include thermodynamics, optics, electric fields and potential, electric circuits, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, AC electricity, quantum physics, the structure of matter, and nuclear physics.
