Why was heated vacuum seal the right choice?
Our project is focused locally in Minnesota. With this is mind, a cooling system is more difficult and not necessary due to the climate in Minnesota. It makes sense to focus primarily on heating. Without cooling there will be less materials and devices in the product, making it more portable and inexpensive. We found that a vacuum seal is more effective in insulating our product then a thin layer of a material with a high R value. We also found that it would be cheaper to vacuum seal our product the using a high R value solution to insulate. To follow our constraint of keeping our product within the temperature range for a week, it's key that we are able to insulate our product as best as possible. This way, the heating system won't have to kick in often and won't run out of battery as fast.
