Testing Plan

Test 1:

Test the 9 volt battery to see how hot the heat tape would get after two minutes at different lengths

• Connect the heat tape to the 9v battery with alligator clips at designated lengths
• Use temperature probe and logger pro to record the temperature at 15 second intervals for 2 minutes
• Test at lengths of 10 in, 15 in, 18 in and 10 in doubled over

Test 2:

Test how long it takes to melt a single packet of pure temp with varying lengths of heat tape with 9 v.

• Connect the heat tape to dc power supply set to 9V with alligator clips at designated lengths
• Start clock to measure how long it takes the packet of pure temp to melt completely
• After completely measured, take temperature of heat heat using temperature probe
• Test at lengths of 10 in, 14 in, and 18 in.

Logger Pro Test 3:

Test how long the vacuum sealed canister alone could stay within the temperature range when left in a refrigerator, test the canister with the pure temp and finally with the pure temp and the heat tape. This test would help us determine not only how effective our design is, but how crucial each element is to our design.

• Place canister in fridge with Omega logger pro to measure temperature
• Record how long the temperature remains with in range
• Repeat test canister with pure temp
• Repeat test with pure temp and heat tape
