Forest Ecology

Summer Camp

Some of the students decided to organize an annual summer camp to educate middle school kids about climate change and forest restoration. The idea of the summer camp is to help kids develop a deep connection with the forest. The kids will learn about forest ecology and stewardship. The summer camp will include nature hikes around the Mount Madonna State Park trails, work in the greenhouse, outdoor games, art, science experiments, yoga and mindfulness.

“I think it would be great if we had the summer camp because then we can educate people who were interested in the topic also.”

- Denali Spector, seventh grade

The last night will include a camp out, and a managed campfire. You can find a copy of the draft of our Summer Camp flyer below. To learn more about Mount Madonna School's Summer program, you can visit their website here.
