For differentiated math homework, we are always assigned delta math. It usually has up to 15 separate topics involved with 1-5 questions each. I have been good with finishing my delta math for each week on time and by doing it with little to no mistakes. For the future, I would do it at the beginning of the week instead of waiting to do it the day it's due.
I have accomplished my goal of being better with doing my Delta math earlier in the week as soon as I can by using the provided work time in class to get it done and by finishing the rest at home.
Mistakes are a necessity in growing your brain's understanding of how to do better next time. In the article “How Mistakes Grow Your Brain”, it states that mistakes are actually good and have been proved to be beneficial to math when taken the right way. For example, in a mistake-friendly friendly environment, it's shown that the students put more effort into the work as a result of feeling comfortable trying.
Right now I feel confident to try my best and seek help when I struggle in math. I hope to succeed in my goals by staying positive to my work and taking mistakes as a way to grow. I keep what I want in mind and apply it to how I see math and how I can put my full effort into the work.
Some ways I can improve my math mindset for this year can include seeking tutors for help and to grow confidence; meditation to stay positive towards struggles and work; setting up a comfortable environment to do my work; and making a schedule for my class work so I have time to focus on math.
The Math Quiz #2 mainly covered transformations and vertical angles, where I got 5/5 right. I feel like this grade was deserved because I studied and I had been trying my best and listening during class. For next time, I plan to do the same while also being able to reflect and refine my answers, because sometimes by going too fast, I miss something and get the questions wrong.
On my geometry quiz #3, I got a meets, specifically a 5/5. This quiz was mainly about similarities and transformations. I knew the topics pretty well and I had performed similarities and transformations before, so I believe that's why I got the grade I got. For the future, I can help others who don’t get the topic if I can.
This End of Unit Assessment was about angle measurement, congruency, and transformations. I got a Meets for the test and the workbook, specifically a 11.5/14 on the test. I expected I would get a meets on the math book because I always pay attention and check my work and fill out whatever I need to. However, I was disappointed to see how many answers I got wrong on the test, especially because I knew the stuff and I was just not adding my knowledge to the answers. I plan to do better next time, though, by reading through the entire answer and taking time to answer the questions and check my answers.
I got a 5/5 on my algebra quiz #1 about how to read and comprehend a graph, constant of proportionality, and comparing speeds using a graph. For the future, I think I could have taken more time to review and fill out my work to fully understand the quiz, but I’m still proud of the grade I got because I was good with understanding and applying my knowledge.
I got a ⅘ on the Algebra Quiz #2, which was mainly about slope equations, Y-intercept, finding slope, & horizontal lines. I got one wrong where I used two points on a graph to find the slope, but I saw and recognized what I did wrong so I can do better next time. For the other 4 answers I got right, I did expect to get those right because I had learned the same math earlier in class so I knew the steps on how to solve the equations.
I got an exceeds on this because my group and I finished the entire scavanger hunt correctly. This project showed me how to use teamwork to get things done. For the future, I plan to be more of a help to my partner and not to run away to a different group.
I originally got an Approaching on the test, specifically a 11/16. I was surprised by this score because I thought the test was really easy. When I checked my test, 3 of the 5 questions marked wrong were actually correct, boosting my grade to a Meets. Overall, I learned that refinement is really important, because this unit test counted for a lot of my grade, and if I hadn’t checked it, it would have been marked as an Approaching, even though it was a Meets. I got a Meets- on my workbook because I was absent for one day, but I was proud of the grade I got overall because I filled out most of what was due.
The Unit 3 End of Unit Assessment was points on the graph of a line, equations for lines, and comparing speed using graphs, equations, and lines. I got an exceeds because I got them all correct and was good with my explanations. I got a meets on my workbook because I did all the work we were supposed to do and it was organized. For the next unit, I plan to show my work better and start with reading the entire problem first before answering the questions.
The content of the Mid Unit 4 Test was about hanger diagrams and multi step equations. I got an exceeds, specifically a 14/14 because I understood the topics in the Unit and I studied well for the test. I did well with being able to use my goals set in the past for this test and it clearly benefited me. For the next test, I plan to come in with a positive attitude and properly refine the test after I finish it.
This assignment was about systems of equations where we need to continue leveling up to get to level 5. I got an exceeds for doing it all well organized with correct answers and good explanations.
This quiz was about systems of equations. I got a meets, specifically 5/5 because I understood most of the questions asked. For the future, I should practice more to fully understand the topic because I still had some questions after this quiz.
