In ELA, we are reading the book charlie Hernandez. My beginning of the year goal for ELA was to do better on comprehension on informational text. how I will accomplish this is by next Iready test, even though we are only a month into 6th grade and I got early 6 in comprehension on informational text, I still think I can do better and get mid 6, so I will think the questions through more thoroughly next time. I definitely achieved my goal because I'm 8th grade level in this on my mid year assessment. my new goal is to get better at writing strategies. how I will achieve my goal is to try extra hard on the end of the year assessment, and also to maybe ask for extra help in that area.
For this project, I created the extra chapter. The learning target for this was I can make inferences about the characters, draw conclusions about the plot, and apply a plot diagram to my creative writing. This project was about remaking chapter 31 of two roads. My plot was Cal tried to escape Chiallagi and broke his neck, also possum died and then Cal got struck by lightning and could walk again, and it ends with him saying he was going to avenge Possum. What I had to do to complete it was for a meets, you had to predict follow-up events in the story, have 1-2 pages, and have an understanding of the story. and I got a meets, so I am happy. How I could plan a project like this in the future is I could use creativity in my work like this project. I feel like I was very imaginative when I made this project, and it really helped.
In this project, me and my friend Nash teamed up to create an alternate ending to the story. In our story, optimas prime had the main charictar play a video game called gorilla tag, and if he could survive for 2 minutes, he would spare his life but if not, he wouldn't. he ended up winning and living. I used integrity during this assignment because the teacher usually doesn't let us partner up, but she did this time and we got a lot of work done.
For my debate, I argued that school should start later in the day. how i prepared for it was I did a ton of research and quoted numerous websites. we lost the debate, but the judges were a little biased. I used taking ownership in this assignment because my group mates didn't do a lot of work, so I had to do most of it but it turned out pretty well. over all this assignment was very interesting.
the most challenging part of the essay was probably getting as much evidence as possible from the little evidence that I had. I once had to even look for about 10 minutes to get a quote. I am stronger at body paragraphs because finding good evidence comes easy to me, and also I love to research if it is a good, juicy topic. I'm not saying I'm bad at intros, but I am stronger at body paragraphs. Here is some stuff that a future 6th grader should do during this assignment: Make sure to find good strong evidence and to focus.
My goal for humanities is to push myself to go for an exceeds. How I will accomplish this is by when we have an assignment, look at what I have to do to get an exceeds and when I'm doing the assignment, do what I have to do to get an exceeds.
