In reading this year based off my iready score i want to work on my vocabulary
I would work on increasing my vocabulary score by understanding word relationships.
I can compose a unique journal entry and defend it in a video.
For this I used refinement because i really wanted it to sound good.
And a thing we worked on in this class was our infographic about chilagi. We listed 5 things that others could expect about the school on canva. If your wondering why we are doing and infographic about chilagi, well it's because we are reading a book called Two roads. Its about a boy (cal) and a dad (pops) who are native American and live on the railroads. While pops was in the army he is going to fight for his balance while he sends cal off to native American boarding school.Something I learned about this is to focus less on design and more on work because when I did it I spent more time on it looking cute and less on work.I have improved with my writing skills.
The next thing we worked on was the first journal prompt. If you don't know what a journal prompt is it is when mrs.Evans gives us 2-3 prompts for us to choose out of,then she trust us to write the story.Another thing they let us do is use older journal prompts. But sense out of 3 journal prompts this was the first one I got to be creative. The options were Write a story that includes the following elements: a college student who doesn’t know they have magical powers, a struggling coffee shop and a comet. Or Write a story about someone who is really good at something they hate.I choose to write the second one about a girl who does dance but only to keep her mom happy.I learned that writing a story is hard so just be patient with it.I improved on it so far because of my thinking and ideas before writing.
The final project of this unit was the letter to cal.As you already know about the book we are reading so far in class (two roads),so we wrote a letter to cal basically describing his life. Also just checking in on him like any other human being would talk to a fictional character.I learned during this to always focus on what is happening in the book.i’m improving on this by paying attention more in class.
Humanity's
In humanities we are working on our last exhibition and also working on improving out confidence this year
One of the first things we did in humanities this year was the human migration map. This was about where the first humans traveled and was very helpful for other projects. One of the main things we did was find different continents and oceans. The next thing we did was mark the important landmarks with a star, like the bering strait. While doing this I learned that it is very important to focus and pay attention in class because while doing this I got very confused.I think I could have improved on my writing in it because it was very brief and not a lot of info.
Another thing we did so far in our 6th grade year is the first Americans research document,it is a rough draft for our exhibition project about the first Americans. We mainly use it for research but I also have been using it to store my paragraphs and edit them. Im learning with this project that finding info and using different websites is very helpful because if I go off of what I know I probably wouldn't be as informational.I think I improved on my wording because im saying things in my own words than others.
Yet another thing we're doing so far is the first american slide about all the info about our continent and how the first Americans lived. We got put in groups and I think I work pretty well with them.Another thing we are going to do in this project is make a diorama about everything. Im learning to be patient with other people during projects because i'm not so fast either. And Im improving on the same thing too what about you?
After 2 days out by chaco canyon I learned more than i thought i could. As we got their from the 2.5 hour drive the adults while we learned things from the visitor center unloaded everything from all of the vehicles as we got back we immediately started to find a spot,it was somewhat complicated because of the side separation.Eventually we found a spot and set up camp then started socializing with the boys and others.Once they though we were recharged we went to go meet up and talked about the hikes we were going to do and what vans we were taking to them.We went on many hikes but my favorite one was probably chetro ketle becuase it included petrogliphs and the great house.A thing I learned from this trip was that they walked a lot to get the materials they needed to make a living,And also another thing kinda related was how long it took them to build considering hoe short they were and their life spans witch took 300 years to build one great house!Well that is all and I hope you got a little bit as much joy as i did.
The learning target of this project was that I understand how some of the first people to live in north america adapted to their climates and geography. The region that me and my group studied was northern California,I met the meets standard was used basic materials and collaborated with my group well for the model of the region. The next on is a meets for multiple sources and using my own words on the project research.another one was an approaching for group work because I was not there but I help my partners out as much as I could. The last on is an exceeds for presentation on my work with little to no looking down at my script and memorizing my lines.I could definitely do better in my focus because I had a friend in my group and we did goof off a bit.Further more you can see how hard I worked to got to where I am for this Project.
this is a help wanted poster we made for the Mayan classes and social structures.
the learning target is that I could write and preform a skit about the main reasons for the fall or the mayan civilization. One reason for the fall was because of no water. In my group I contributed to being a god.
Learning target: I can compose an interview between an Aztec ruler and spanish conquistador
this exhibition was used to show the rise and fall of these civilizations/the Aztecs and Incas. In this exhibition we made artifacts to represent us being archaeologist. The of process of us making these artifacts was researching the Aztecs and then finding the things that we could make. For the research part of this we read a lot of articles and watched a lot of things,we also wrote summary's of what we were doing and how we were doing it.we also found images and inspiration to create ,and and sculpt our artifacts out of clay to make it look realistic. we also had this thing called a choice board and i made a escape room on google slides.in digital media we created movie posters and story's for exhibition.I faced a lot of challenges in this unit and one of the biggest was finding good research,I see this project having most refinghn ment because of how hard it was and challenging. As you can see this was great but hard
In this exhibition we researched the foods from both worlds and made a dish based on one food from each side. I am really proud of how much effort i put in to research my dish and also most of the foods from both worlds. One of the most challenging part of this project was definitely knowing what food to make because we needed to have at least one food in our dish from each world. In this project I think I used respect the most because it was a lot of practice after research.
