I have gained information about the geological history of the Southwest. An example is there are many different layers and periods that shaped the Southwest we see today. There are also many types of fossils in the layers. Our team worked together great. It was super easy working with them because we all had our strengths and used them to our advantage. In this project I am most proud of making the rock layer diagram and the script. Something I could have done differently is put the fossils in the clay before it dried so we didn't have to free-hand the fossils on. This project was super fun and I can’t wait to do something like it again.
This is the one pager that we created for all of our information that we found on Venus.
This exhibition was stressful, fun, and I learned a lot about my chosen planet. The learning targets for this unit depending on what you studied were “I can develop a model of the Earth-sun-moon system to explain lunar phases, eclipses, and seasons. I can use a model to describe how gravity influences the motion of objects in galaxies and the solar system. I can analyze data to determine the size and scale properties of objects in the solar system.” Some of the insights I learned from this unit are that some planets have multiple secrets that we don’t know about yet, just because a planet is closest to the sun that does not mean it’s the hottest, and sometimes you may not love your group but it’s what you got so deal with it. Furthermore I did really well on this exhibition with my final grade being an exceeds. My group and I struggled a lot because we had to restart 3 different times before we had our final model. Moreover our final model was a presentation of what the surface of Venus would look like. With hot sand, a smoking volcano, geysers all around, and lots of lights. Each team member played a role in making our models. I was in charge of making the geysers lights and sand, Elise worked on our script making it perfect, Micah was in charge of making the smoking volcano, and Sam was in charge of making our sand hot. As you can see this space odyssey had its ups and down but at the end of the day the presentation was great.
This exhibition was really fun! I worked with Farrah as my partner on overconsumption. We each played an important role, I emailed the Durango Herald to get a letter in the newspaper and made our slideshow. While Farrah made the posters and interviewed Patagonia. However some obstacles we faced were we put so much on our plate at a time that we would start getting stressed to get everything done especially with the deadline approaching. Moreover I think Farrah and I put a lot of effort into our action plan and we did multiple things at once and made sure everything was absolutely perfect. I think I personally am most proud of the fact that we got in the newspaper! I grew as a student during this project by stepping out of my boundaries taking big steps to be more confident. I also grew as a steward of the environment by shopping less at fast-fashion stores and more at sustainable clothing stores. Lastly my understanding of environmental issues grew greatly. I now understand that it's not just Climate Change though that is a big part of it, there are multiple other issues that are causing the earth to not be as healthy as it once was. Overall I really liked this exhibition and I would definitely do it again.
