Youth Orchestras

We strongly encourage students to consider participating in other orchestra activities outside of our district for further enrichment.  We are lucky to have two nationally recognized youth symphonies here in the twin cities.  Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS) and Minnesota Youth Symphonies (MYS) have been a huge asset to our students in the Mounds View District.  Both organizations are wonderful and have slight differences, with the biggest difference being when and where they meet.  There is an audition process to participate in these orchestras, but have many levels from beginners to advanced to meet students where they can thrive and grow musically.  See the links below for each organization and reach out to you district orchestra directors if you have any questions.  We love it when students participate in these organizations, especially at an early age, because they come back to our school programs as leaders.
