Today's Focus: Work Values (Teacher Read Aloud)
A work value is something that's important to you in a career.
Some values come from within. For instance, people may feel the need to be creative or help others.
Other values reflect more concrete aspects of the work you do. For instance, money and leisure time are considered outward motivators.
Whatever you value, knowing what's important to you can set you on the path to a career you'll find satisfying.
Your values can even help guide your job decisions while you're in high school.
Let's Do It! Work Values Survey? (Teacher Read Aloud)
Today, we are going to take a Work Values Survey.
Students can take this survey by going to:
Along the left hand side of the screen, select Work Values Sorter; then scroll down slightly and select Get Started.
Sort and prioritize your Work Values by dragging and dropping each card into a spot that best matches how important it is for you to have a job like the one described on the card.
Exploring Your Results
Once students complete the survey, they will select Submit and View Report.
Pass out the Work Values Survey: Activity Sheet for students to work on as they explore their results.
Students should spend time looking at careers related to their top score areas.
Once students complete their Activity Sheet, have them place it into their Resource Folder (located in your crate).
