Miss Korinna reads 'What a busy baby'. We know this is one of our nursery children's favourite books, they love copying what the baby does! Miss Korinna demonstrates how it is great fun and good for speech and language development to engage with a book without actually having to read the words. Sometimes we just discover books together! This can be done in any language!
As we talked about in our Zoom meeting, here is our focus book 'Engine Engine'. You can explore this book together! At nursery, we read our focus book every day at story time. After the children know the book, we read the beginning of sentences and your children tell us what happens next! We also do lots of art activities to make a display on the wall and we look at the display together to tell the story without the book. And finally, we introduce props and role play our focus story together. Maybe you can find some props in your home to role play a story that your child knows well?
Can you look at the pictures with your child and ask them simple questions such as
What can you see?
Can you point to the telephone box, London Eye, bus and car.
