CIO's Message - Morgan Strong for Spring 2018!

It's Spring 2018, and there's much to celebrate at the Office of Information Technology (OIT). We are committed to improving our technology services and support. This year, we pledge to be #MorganStrong.

BLACKBOARD Upgrades to Saas

OIT upgraded its Blackboard system to Bb 9.1 CU4 SaaS. The benefit of SaaS (Software as a Service) is that we'll always be on the latest version of Blackboard, and we will have no down-time for upgrades. Check out the new or enhanced features.

Reminder: Make sure you log out of Blackboard!

Bb Assignment Submission Receipts

Assignment receipts are your guarantee that an assignment has been successfully submitted. Students receive an email with the receipt number; faculty can view an Assignment Receipt report in their grade center.

OIT continues to bring you flexible ways to connect to our network. Morgan faculty, staff and students should use the MSU-Secure wireless network. Guests on our campus may use the MSU-Guest access.

Atomic Learning (Morgan's video training repository) has changed its name to Hoonuit. Our link to the service remains the same! Login with your Morgan username and password.

What's New on Hoonuit?

Learning Pathways: Hoonuit has curated hundreds of videos by topic. As you progress through the various courses, you can earn a certificate of completion.

My Campus Training: Now featuring training for Morgan employees/students on Google, Blackboard and other topics. If your department would like to post training on Hoonuit, please contact Academic Technology Services (x1103).

Academic Technology Service's offers several options for faculty, staff and students who need to produce video presentations or training. For Faculty, Staff and Students: Our Record & Go Studio provides a quiet space with professional quality video capture equipment. We train faculty, staff and students to use our studio, and to produce their own short videos using Panopto.

For Faculty or Staff: Academic Technology Services offers video production services. We can plan, script and produce training videos, as well as assist professors with their instructional video needs.

New in Panopto 5.6

Panopto continues to improve its video platform. New features include the following:

Support for 360 and VR Video
Blackboard Grade Center Integration (for Panopto quizzes)
Multi-language search

Evening Classroom AV Support

Do you teach at night? If you need classroom AV support at night, please call our OIT evening staff at: 410.961.5207. Our staff is available to assist you when the university is open, M-F, 5:00 -10:00 PM.

Card Readers Allow Students to ‘Swipe to Enter’ using their BEAR Cards

OIT Computer Labs (Jenkins 215 & Holmes G-14) have card readers in place to allow students to "swipe to enter" so remember your BEAR card!

Do you need MS Office for your personal computing device? As an active Morgan faculty, staff or student you may install Office 365 on up to five of your personal devices! To get MS 365, browse to: portal.office.com. Log in with your Morgan email address and Morgan password.
