Last year, we implemented the Annual Security Awareness Training using MediaPro. In November faculty and staff training continues.
This summer the Board of Regents approved the new Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy (AUP). The AUP governs the use of Morgan technology by the entire MSU community. This also covers any device connected to Morgan wired and wireless networks: personal smartphones, computers, game consoles, TVs and other media devices.

SPAM DAILY DIGEST: The university licensed additional SPAM filtering services from ProofPoint. Users receive a daily digest from ProofPoint for new quarantined messages. These emails are deleted after 14 days of quarantine. You have three options for each message:
- Release: a message from quarantine.
- Release and Allow Sender: Releases the message and delivers future messages to your inbox.
- Not SPAM: Releases the message and improves future deliveries of this type message.
Note: Messages released from ProofPoint may still be filtered into Spam.

- Banner ID & Password Profile Requirements: There are two new account management changes that recently took effect. All students and workforce members are required to provide their 8-digit Banner ID number (student or employee ID number) when contacting the Service Desk for assistance with managing their Morgan username and password. All students and workforce members are also required to have a Password Reset Profile created. These changes will allow users to self-manage and secure their username and password.
- Computer, Peripheral, & Software Purchases: All computer, peripheral (e.g., printer, scanner), and software purchases should be vetted with OIT to ensure (1) compatibility with the network and security standards, (2) OIT staff can help support the technology (if applicable), and (3) you get the most competitive price.
- ERP Governance Process: Beginning Monday, June 19, 2017, all ERP projects must be submitted online and reviewed by the ERP Governance Committee. Any ERP project proposals (verbal or written) submitted outside of this online process, will not be considered. - Devron Thornton joins Academic Technology Services as the new Instructional Media Coordinator. He brings over a decade of video production experience to the team, and will create and edit educational video, as well as facilitate multimedia training workshops.
- Congratulations to our 10 OIT staffers who were trained, tested, and certified in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) this summer. Well done!
- New Apple Certifications: Our team is prepared for the growth of Apple computer use across Morgan. Two OIT staffers are our newest Apple Certified Macintosh Technicians (ACMT).
The Record & Go Studio, located in Richardson Library 206, is available for use by faculty, staff, and students. Record your presentations, training videos, guest interviews, and more. This studio is powered by Panopto and features professional level equipment.
