The interviewer has come up with some popular school questions. I have interviewed Mrs. Hoy and have gotten some answers. Here are the questions with answers:
One of the popular questions was “What's happening in the dirt space across the street and next to the preschool?” Mrs. Hoy tells me that the concrete will be a trike path, and there will be a swingset in the middle. She also told me that they are putting grass where all the mud is right now. There should also be mini forts under all of the trees. Now instead of the preschoolers and aftercare playing in the parking lot, they will have their own dedicated space for playing. She wanted me to give a special thanks to Father Marc for designing the whole project.
Another one of the popular questions was “Why doesn’t junior high have any more backpacks to carry our belongings around?” She tells me that they were huge tripping hazards that would slow us down if there was a fire or a tornado, and we have to move quickly. They were also just a huge tripping hazard for people not rushing around and just walking normally into or out of class. They also noticed a lot more broken chromebooks because people would put them on top of their bags which then they fell off. People stepped on them, therefore, ruining them. Junior high students also snuck food into class, which was a big problem because people would bring food that some people were allergic to. The number one reason was people sneaking their cell phones into class and either cheating or texting each other while the teacher was teaching.
“Why is there now a STEM instead of computer class?" was also a good question. The answer was “It still has computers but you also have a little bit of Science, Technology, Engineering, And Mathematics, which makes up STEM”. She also explained that's the direction we're going.
Another special question was “Why was Art added?” We added art because it is surprisingly a lot more than just drawing and scribbling. There is surprisingly a lot of history in art including paintings, artists, and how they made certain colors. Another reason art was added is because it is important to express some of your great abilities and a lot of students were requesting “We need more art”.
A popular junior high question was “Why only two or three guided studies a week and not one everyday?” The answer she gave me was that people were abusing the time for other things like eating snacks, playing games instead of work, and talking. A great reason I thought was that there are now more specials, which leaves less time for guided study. If we have one everyday, there will be less specials time.
