No Turkeys Here!
By: Makenzie H. and Charlie L.
Published on: December 8, 2024
The kindergartners are helping these poor turkeys make a disguise so they don't get eaten for Thanksgiving this year! There are a ton of unique designs that nobody else could even think of! For example, a turkey disguised as a cupcake by Tessa. Then, we have a beautiful princess turkey by Cece. Next, we have a Husker player by Jack. He must be ready for football! Lastly, we have an underwater creature; the octopus, by Rex. These are only some of the amazing collections of disguised turkeys! Some of the materials that had been used were cotton balls, cheerios, glitter, fabric, and beads. These turkeys are for the kindergarteners to think outside of the box and open their creative thinking to disguise the turkeys so they won’t be eaten.

Mrs. Robinson has been the art teacher at MOQ since the art program started in 2020-2021. She is a devoted mother of three and says her family is always singing, dancing, drawing, or acting. We did an interview with her and here are some of her personal experiences and opinions.
Why did you start your art career?
I have always loved art. I was inspired by studio arts and wanted to bring some creativity to MOQ.
What is your favorite kind of art to teach?
My favorite art to teach is printmaking, when you make designs on a gelli plate.
What makes art so special?
It is always one of a kind. It's about the experience and not being perfect, and it's from the heart.
What is your mission for students to accomplish in art?
To build ‘I can’ muscle that will carry them throughout their lives.
During the first quarter, the whole school did an amazing art project. All kindergarten through eighth grade students at Mary Our Queen drew eyes. Here at Mary Our Queen there is extraordinary talent in our building. We have amazing examples of the talent in our building including the following:
Daphne S. - 8th Grade
Charlie L. - 6th Grade
Mikayla B. - 8th Grade
Ailish R. - 7th Grade
