Carlow Summer Programs
College in High School, June 20-June 29
Rising Educators: This innovative two-week, credit-bearing summer program will allow rising juniors and seniors to earn three college credits in the comforts of their own community.
Obtain instruction and hands-on experience working with children
Programs are offered at:
Hosanna House, open to any community teen who is a rising junior or senior
Boys & Girls Club, open to any community teen who is a rising junior or senior
Summer Workshops, June 20-23 & June 27-30
Prepare to Care: Investigate nursing and healthcare careers this summer. These daytime, non-residential workshops are for high school students who have completed grades 9-11.
Learn from internationally renowned scientists and healthcare professionals
Engage in hands-on lab activities
Observe an open-heart surgery (Prepare to Care I only)
Carlow Summer College, June 20-Aug. 11
Complete 3-6 credits towards a potential academic major or get a head start on first-year academic course requirements.
Gain valuable college academic preparation skills through fully virtual courses
Courses offered at a discounted rate of $75/credit ($225 per course)

Sewickley Public Library: Summer Reading Teen Volunteers
Attention teens! Are you looking for volunteer opportunities over the summer? The Children’s Department is currently looking for teens going into 8th grade through 12th grade to volunteer to assist with our Summer Reading Club. Volunteers help participants track their reading, distribute prizes, and lend a hand to library staff with craft and activity preparation. A variety of shifts are available Mondays – Saturdays to fit varying schedules. All Summer Reading Teen Volunteers should plan to attend one training meeting on either: Thursday, May 16 at 6:30PM – OR – Monday, May 20 at 6:30PM. Carnegie Science Center—Teen Volunteer Program
If you’re between the ages of 14–18, volunteer with the science center for an experience in an environment like no other! Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, make some great friends, and earn references for your college application or your job hunt – all while giving back to the community. We accept new teen volunteers twice annually: in Summer and during the School Year. Our departments have differing minimum commitments beginning at 50 hours for our Summer Teen volunteers and 100 hours for School Year Teen volunteers. Click HERE for more info!

Girls Summer Math Camp

Event Description: This 5-day long event is aimed at female high school students (ages 13-16) attending schools in the greater Pittsburgh area with the objective to expose the participants to different areas in mathematics and thereby spark the interest in mathematics among female pupils and contribute to the development of future female scientists.
PAID—University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health seeking students for a Youth Collaborative Research Team Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health are recruiting youth ages 13-17 to be a part of the MYTH Youth Collaborative. The MYTH Youth Collaborative will assist researchers in conducting a research project investigating nicotine and tobacco misinformation on social media. This includes helping researchers to develop study materials such as surveys as well as creating health communication messages to counteract health misinformation. MYTH Youth Collaborative members will meet with study team members via Zoom approximately 1-2 times per month. This is a paid opportunity. Interested youth can find more information HERE. Permission for participation will be obtained from both youth and their parents/guardians before they can participate in the MYTH Youth Collaborative.
