The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) is a set of courses that give students a well-rounded college foundation. These cover:
Writing and communication
Math and logical reasoning
Science and the environment
History, social sciences, and global issues
Arts and humanities
Understanding diversity, ethics, and civic responsibility
MnTC covers only the general education portion of college (~40–45 credits). It gives students a foundation in writing, math, science, arts, social sciences, and other key areas.
An AA/AS degree is a full college program, including both general education and program- or major-specific courses.
MnTC is flexible: students can complete it across multiple schools or via AP/concurrent enrollment.
Completing MnTC early allows students to get a head start on college, save time, and reduce tuition costs — without leaving high school.
MN Transfer Pathways allow students to complete a specific associate degree at a Minnesota State college and transfer to a Minnesota State university with junior status. All 60 credits apply toward a related bachelor’s degree.
Use this section to get a clear overview of each MnTC Goal Area. Each entry explains what the goal area is, the skills students build, and the minimum number of courses/credits required to meet that part of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.
